Program Description
Our program has year-round start dates to quickly prepare you for entry into the workforce. Upon completing this program, you’ll be qualified to pursue a variety of careers — as an electrician, plumber, HVAC tech, carpenter, foreman, project manager, and construction site manager.
Our comprehensive program covers all the essentials to get you started on the right foot. Our skilled and experienced instructors will use a combination of theoretical and practical training to help you acquire the technical knowledge and skills in plumbing, commercial and specialty carpentry, electrical systems, hydronics, electro-mechanical devices, and residential and commercial Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems. You will also learn about general repair, safety protocols, and building codes, as well as proper use of the tools and equipment that electricians, plumbers, and carpenters use daily. We’ll teach you all about construction calculations, blueprint readings, trade-specific codes, and more. And you’ll learn essential construction management skills — we’ll dive deep into the study of construction planning and scheduling, design, leadership skills, problem-solving, ethics, and OSHA 30 safety.

Program Description
MCC’s HVAC program is offered at the campuses in Lake Havasu City and Bullhead City.
HVAC Residential Certificate – This certificate program prepares the student for a career in residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). Topics will include safety and OSHA requirements, EPA certification, refrigeration theory, residential HVAC systems and installation, air distribution systems and ducting, troubleshooting and repair, including electrical and electronic diagnosis and repair.
HVAC/R Light Commercial Certificate– This certificate program prepares the student for a career in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration systems with an emphasis on commercial/industrial applications. Topics will include safety and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification, refrigeration theory, residential and commercial/industrial HVAC systems, and commercial/domestic refrigeration repair. Advanced techniques for electrical and electronic diagnosis and repair will be emphasized
HVAC Installation Certificate– This certificate program prepares students for a career in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) installation. Topics include estimating and bidding a project, plan set reading, installing ducting and electrical, proper procedures for installing split system and package HVAC systems, and system start-up.

The Air Conditioning and HVAC program provides the student with the essential skills required to enter this fast-growing field which includes both heating and cooling. The student attains the technical knowledge associated with each type of refrigeration system, their uses, and their controlling devices. This program includes troubleshooting, maintenance, motors, as well as study of related electrical controlling devices and safety related to the use of refrigerants.
Graduates of the air conditioning and HVAC programs and certificates will gain knowledge of and experience in a wide range of electrical skills and gain industry-specific experience with:
refrigerants
HVAC electrical controls
the installation and servicing of air supply systems
the operation of a natural gas furnace
heat pump system.
estimating heating/cooling loads.
light commercial refrigeration systems.
electricity, control circuits, and programmable logic controllers (PLC) architecture and programming.
the selection, installation, operation, and maintenance of generators, including how to isolate and repair minor generator problems.
