Delgado Community College

Program Description

The HVAC/R program is accredited by the Committee on HVAC Excellence and includes a study of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration for residential, commercial, and industrial equipment. Along with receiving instruction, students are trained to be HVAC technicians in a hands-on lab environment. The primary mission of the HVAC/R is to provide the necessary training to prepare students for a successful career in the field of HVAC/R with a goal of business owner or service manager.

The Master HVAC/R Technician program will provide the majority of intensive training needed for the skills needed for any type or branding of HVAC/R equipment. In addition to the Master HVAC/R Technical Diploma, a Certificate of Technical Studies in Certified HVAC Technician is also offered.

Blue Cliff College

Program Description

The HVAC program at Blue Cliff College will teach you how to inspect, repair, and maintain HVACR systems. Students will also learn how to connect systems to fuel and water supply lines, air ducts, and other components; and how to install electrical wiring and controls and test for proper operation.

Program Description

The Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician program provides specialized classroom instruction and practical shop experience to prepare students for employment in a variety of jobs in the field of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Students learn to install, diagnose, repair, and maintain the operating condition of domestic, residential, and commercial heating/air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.

Graduates of this program work as technicians to install, service, and repair air conditioning and heating systems, and refrigeration systems in both residential and commercial establishments.

Students must maintain a 2.0 grade point average and complete all required courses to graduate from this program. Completion time depends on course load, course withdrawals, and repeat courses. The program takes approximately four semesters to complete based on full-time status (15+ hours per semester).
