A two-year program aligned with the most current HVAC-R Excellence modules relevant for this geographic area and industry needs and trends.
The program imparts skills and knowledge for the following areas:

  • Installation

  • Service and repair of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment

  • Systems in both residential and commercial applications

  • Emphasis on safety and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements and regulations

Coursework integrates shop operations, job planning and estimating, customer service, professionalism, and ethics. The curriculum is enhanced by the Home Performance with the ENERGY STAR Program, which helps students understand how the house works as a system.

Isaac Heating and Air Conditioning Inc.

Program Description

Isaac University is the only contractor-run training program nationally recognized by the Partnership for Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Accreditation (PAHRA). It is recognized for exceeding industry standards for curriculum, faculty, classwork and required course load. It’s also the only private contractor training program accredited by the New York State Apprenticeship Program for sheet metal workers. Isaac is one of the best places to learn a trade. Our technicians often tell us they’re amazed at how much they learn in a relatively short time. It’s all in the methods we use: both in the classroom and in the lab. We provide two years of HVAC education, followed by two more years of specialized training for each technician. That’s more than 340 hours followed by ongoing Isaac University sessions. Employees must pass 21 educational modules on topics that range from gas furnaces to industry codes to self-leadership.

Electrical Training Center Inc.

Program Description

This program is designed for those with little or no experience in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration industry with a goal to begin a career in the HVAC/R industry. The student will progressively complete each course within the program to acquire the entry level skills in each unit of the course. Students who complete all courses and make successful academic progress and maintain attendance will graduate and receive a Certificate of Completion. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will have the necessary skills to start a career in the HVAC/R industry. This program also provides the EPA Certification 608 Exam & OSHA 30.

Program Description

The Associate in Applied Science in HVACR Technology degree prepares students to enter the workforce as an HVACR technician. Students develop skills and learn about fabrication and joining techniques, basic refrigeration, heating, air conditioning, commercial refrigeration, electrical fundamentals, HVACR controls, and design of HVACR systems.

Program Description

The A.A.S. degree program provides a well-rounded education in HVAC technology with a thorough understanding of the theory and applications necessary for systems operation.

Graduates of the A.A.S. degree program will have a thorough understanding of the math and physics that HVAC principles are built upon. This program will also prepare the student wishing to pursue a bachelor's degree in HVAC. Students interested in a bachelor's degree are advised to contact the HVAC faculty prior to enrollment for specific course suggestions. The curriculum includes instruction in system operations; diagnostic techniques; the use of testing equipment; principles of mechanics; and electricity and electronics as they relate to heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
